President Joe Biden signed Juneteenth into law as a federal holiday, but in his rush to celebrate missed an opportunity to start a dialogue on racial atonement and reconciliation that could have led the nation towards a true reckoning with America’s original sin. In failing to seize this moment, an issue a formal apology for slavery and Jim Crow Laws Biden joined a long list of Chief Executives who have subordinated racial-justice for political expediency.
